💜God Blocked It — Choosing Gratitude for What Didn’t Happen💜

It is so easy for us to focus on the things that happen to us each day, especially the negative or unfavorable moments. Sometimes, those situations can consume our thoughts and disturb our peace.

But today, I paused and chose to look at things differently.

Instead of focusing only on what did happen, I began thinking about all the things that didn’t happen.

There are many things taking place around us every single day that we can not see and may never even be aware of. Yet in His mercy, God protects us from dangers, disappointments, and situations that could have hurt us, broken us, or stolen our joy.

Sometimes, God’s greatest blessings are the things He prevents.

There may have been harm that never reached us.
There may have been doors that closed for our protection.
There may have been battles forming that God stopped before they ever touched our lives.

We often thank God for what He has done, but today, I am choosing to thank Him for what He blocked.

For what He did not allow to break me.
For what He did not allow to hurt me.
For what, He did not allow to steal my peace.

God was working behind the scenes in ways I may never fully understand.

Scripture reminds us of this powerful truth:

“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life.”
    Psalm 121:7 (NIV)

What a comforting reminder that God is constantly watching over us. His protection surrounds us even when we can not see it.

    Today, I choose gratitude.

    Gratitude for the unseen protection.
    Gratitude for the closed doors.
Gratitude for the battles I never had to fight.

Sometimes, the greatest testimony is simply this:

    God blocked it.

  • Valentine’s Day can stir up many emotions.

For some, it is filled with joy and celebration. For others, it can feel heavy with expectations, comparisons, or reminders of what once was. But today, I want to gently remind you of something eternal and unshakable: you are never alone — even if you are physically by yourself.

There are so many expectations surrounding this day. Society tells us how we should celebrate, what we should receive, and how we should feel. But you do not have to feel pressured into honoring Valentine’s Day — or any occasion — in a way that does not align with your heart.

    You belong to God.

He gave the ultimate sacrifice so that you could have life. That is love in its purest and most powerful form.

When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus responded:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…” This is the first and greatest commandment.”
    Matthew 22:36–40 (NIV)

Our first love is Him. And before we ever loved Him, He loved us first.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”
    John 3:16 (NIV)

That love is not conditional. It is not seasonal. It is not dependent upon relationship status, human affirmation, or worldly validation. It is steady. It is sacrificial. It is eternal.

No matter what you are feeling or facing today, please know you are loved. God also promised:
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
    Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

So if the noise of the world feels loud — quiet it.
If your thoughts try to convince you that you are forgotten — reject that lie.
If loneliness attempts to creep in — remember who walks beside you.

    You are seen.
    You are chosen.
You are loved beyond measure. 🙏🏽💜🦋🌻🫶🏾

  • ~Focus Friday~

My prayer today is simple: Lord, help me focus on the work that truly matters.

It is so easy to begin the day with good intentions and end it wondering where the time went. Distractions are subtle. They rarely announce themselves. Sometimes, they start with a notification, a text message, or an unexpected interruption. Before we realize it, our attention has shifted, and we are walking down a path we never intended to take.

But God calls us to deeper focus.

Our hearts and minds must be settled on Him. When we prioritize His kingdom work and eternal values, we begin to see clearly what deserves our attention and what does not. Not everything urgent is important. Not everything loud deserves a response.

I have learned that when I drift into distraction, I must pause. I take a deep breath. I pray. I ask God to guard my heart and renew my mind. Because everything I do flows from what is happening internally.

Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to guard our hearts carefully, for everything we do flows from it. Our inner focus shapes our outward actions. If my heart is scattered, my day will be scattered. If my mind is fixed on God, my steps will be steady.

I desire for my inner life and outward life to be in sync with God’s will. I want my thoughts aligned with His truth, my actions rooted in His purpose, and my time invested in what carries eternal weight.

    Today, I choose focus.
    Not perfection — focus.
    Not pressure — alignment.
    Not busyness — purpose.

Lord, guard my heart. Order my steps. Help me finish what matters most. Amen!

  • ~ Be Thoughtful Thursday ~

It is so easy to get caught up in the mundane routines of life — thinking about our own immediate needs, feelings, and desires. We move quickly from task to task, focused on what must get done, what we need next, and how we feel in the moment.

But I often wonder — what kind of world would we live in if we intentionally considered the hearts of those around us?

God calls us to be kind and considerate. Not to the point of being overbearing or without healthy boundaries, but in a consistent way — the way we would want to be treated ourselves. Thoughtfulness is not a weakness. It is strength guided by compassion.

Behind closed doors, we never truly know what someone is carrying. We do not know the hardships, the silent battles, the private tears, or the spiritual warfare they may be fighting. A person standing in front of us could be holding themselves together by the thinnest thread.

Our kindness could be that thread.

    A smile.
    A kind word.
Buying someone lunch, coffee, or groceries.
    A sincere “How are you?”

Whether the gesture feels big or small, it matters. It may be the lifeline someone needs in that very moment — a reminder that God still sees them, still loves them, and still sends people to plant seeds of hope.

Let us be thoughtful on our level. Let us love well where we are. Let us extend grace as freely as we desire to receive it.

After all, Jesus gave us the golden rule — not as a suggestion, but as a way of life. 🙏🏽💜🦋🌻🫶🏾

  • ~Wisdom Wednesday ~

We are taught in scripture that when we ask, we shall receive — and that if we do not ask, how can we expect to be given? In matters of wisdom, God is especially clear. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, we are called to seek it earnestly, and in all our seeking, to gain understanding.

So today, I ask God for wisdom — not simply more things, but the insight to handle what I already have. Often, we do not need more blessings; we need discernment to steward well what God has already entrusted to us. Good stewardship honors God and shows our gratitude for His provision.

I can remember seasons when I had very little, yet God made it stretch farther than times when I had plenty. That is the power of His wisdom at work. When we align ourselves with Him, He opens doors, orders steps, and allows opportunities that only He can authorize.

The more I walk with God, the more I realize how limited my understanding truly is compared to His perfect plan. So today, I surrender my reasoning to Him. He is the author of my faith, the architect of my destiny, and the anchor of my soul.

Lord, grant me wisdom to walk wisely, steward faithfully, and trust You completely.  🙏🏽💜🌻🦋🫶🏾

  • 🙏🏽Thankful Thursday🙏🏽

It is easy to move through life in a hurried way and offer a quick, surface-level “thank you” without truly pausing to reflect on how good God has been to us. So today, I invite you — and I remind myself — to slow down and intentionally consider all that we have to be grateful for.

God is so good to us, far better than we deserve. Often, it is not one big blessing that fills our hearts with gratitude, but the many small blessings that quietly surround us every day. When I stop to think about it, my heart overflows.

I am thankful for waking up this morning in my right mind. I am thankful that I can clothe myself, feed myself, and move about my day. I am grateful for a roof over my head, a vehicle to get to my job, and a job that allows me to care for myself and my family. I am thankful for friends, coworkers, mentors, mentees, and neighbors who cross my path. These are just a few of the blessings that so many people do not have, and I do not take them lightly.

I never want to be so busy that I forget to stop and acknowledge my thankful heart to God. I never want to take His goodness for granted.

With a thankful heart, we show God our appreciation and love for Him. He pours out His grace, mercy, and unmerited favor upon us every single day. Gratitude should also move us toward others — helping us to be more loving, compassionate, and generous to those who may not have what we do.

So today, let thankfulness shape how we speak, how we act, and how we love.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
    — Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

  • đź’śDon’t Be Weary Wednesday 🤍

Even when you don’t see the results, your prayers matter.
Even when you feel tired, your faith still speaks.
Even when you feel like giving up, God is still working.

Somebody prayed for you — and today, you are living in their answered prayers. Keep praying for your own bloodline, too.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
    — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

    💜POSITIVE THOUGHTS BY PAULETTE ®️

  • At times, my heart and spirit feel restless—stubborn even—and they resist the thought of surrender. The adrenaline rush of control can feel like driving a race car on a slippery road at an unsafe speed. Crazy, right? I know.

But after that reckless grip on control, uncertainty and weariness always follow. The weight of worry settles in—heavy and unmovable. I often find myself saying, “Here we go again.” Flesh, get out of my way.

It becomes an unspoken battle between my spirit and my flesh—holding on when I should be releasing everything to God and trusting Him fully. This feeling is a thief, robbing faith, peace, and joy. Moments of happiness and calm begin to feel like distant dreams instead of present realities.

Yet even in my mess, God has never left me. His hand is still holding me—even when I resist being held. His still, small voice gently calls me to surrender, obey, and trust Him alone. God is a jealous God—not because He is controlling, but because He knows what harms us. He does not want to share our hearts with false idols, whether they live in our minds, take physical form, or appear as people, things, or misplaced priorities.

His voice awakens my deepest desire for vulnerability—where hurt, pain, doubt, and fear of the unknown are finally laid down. God does not want surrender to be a temporary fix. He is the solution.

This is His direct invitation to submit and release everything that has a chokehold on us—everything that does not edify or bring glory to Him.

Today, I choose to surrender—not out of despair, but out of grateful worship. In spite of all my mess, He still loves me. In His presence, I find fullness of joy, peace, and solace. His will is good and perfect.

With my hands lifted high and my palms open, I surrender all to You, Lord.

And I invite you to consider surrendering whatever you’re holding onto as well.
